Shannon Staffing is recruiting for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join a Mount Vernon recycling facility. This well-established business processes clean industrial, commercial and consumer items that were incorrectly labeled or packaged, over-produced, obsolete or defective (i.E., zero post-consumer waste!).
This key employee will install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and upgrade production and facility equipment, such as sorters, slitters, balers, compactors, grinders, etc.
-- Understand and apply safety/OSHA, predictive and productive maintenance skills and processes to support the site's mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and other equipment / systems.
-- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
-- Diagnose machine problems, replace or repair parts, and test and make adjustments.
-- Perform basic plumbing maintenance and carpentry
-- Use a variety of hand and power tools as well as operate a forklift, electric motors and material handling equipment.

-- Effective Maintenance-and-Repair support of all aspects of daily production operations.

-- Clear communication with the plant manager and owners over changes, needs, repairs and improvements.
-- 4+ years of manufacturing-support experience, with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills, supplemented with PLC experience and electrical and HVAC proficiency.
-- Stamina; strength, physical coordination and flexibility; visual and auditory sharpness. This Maintenance position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Frequent lifting and/or movement of items weighing over 75 pounds. Application of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.
-- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and Production Maintenance experience. (Preferred: Degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance, or 5+ years Maintenance work experience)
